The race to parliament in the Wa Central Constituency is taking a different dimension as constituents are eagerly capitalising on the God send political saviour Hon. Hajia Humu Awudu to retire the incumbent MP Hon. Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo, who is the longest serving MP for Wa central and longest serving incumbent seeking for reelection within the Upper West Region.
The show of love and solidarity to Hon. Hajia Humu Awudu as a result of her good works, commitment and developmental initiatives was appreciated when market women, youth groups, political activists including party stalwarts and supporters joined the entourage through the principal street’s of Wa to the office of the electoral commission for the filling of the nomination form on the 8th October, 2020.
The fast fading image of the incumbent MP was evident as he secretly filed his nomination. my understanding from closed party members is that, Hon. time is up and they will not embarrassed themselves to parade him as in the case of previous filling ceremonies.
It is clear that, most electorates in the Wa central are going to vote massively for Hon. Hajia Humu Awudu, because she is the obvious choice.
In addressing the enthusiastic crowd, shortly after filling the nomination form, she re-iterated her stand for women empowerment, hope for all, youth development and transformational agenda for Wa central constituency.
From the excepts of the speech, Hon. Hajia Humu Awudu noted; ‘the nomination forms we filed was not just for me but they were nomination forms of hope for the youth, nomination forms for women empowerment, nomination forms for job opportunities and nomination forms for developmental projects’.
She added ‘I wish to remind the good people of Wa Central that, I am committed to give a very strong and compassionate representation as your Member of Parliament and I shall aggressively pursue for developmental opportunities for our constituency’.
She then pledge her commitment to peace.
Since winning the Parliamentary primaries to contest the seat, her style of leadership and grassroots approach has given the Wa Central constituents a renewed hope in political leadership in the wa central constituency.
Admittedly, the dawn for real change has hit Wa Central and electorate are supporting the course.
Let me admonished the constituents of Wa Central to be more proactive and be part of history making as Hajia Humu’s victory is glearing.
