R. Kelly Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison After Sex-Trafficking Conviction

A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced R. Kelly to 30 years in prison.

R&B star R. Kelly was found guilty in September of racketeering and sex-trafficking charges. Judge Ann Donnelly handed down the 30-year sentence, plus an additional five years of supervised release and a $100,000 fine.

She condemned Kelly for the “serial rape and sexual abuse” he perpetrated on his victims. R.Kelly’s sexual abuse trial heard testimony from dozens of women who say he coerced them into having sex with him and videotaped it.

One woman said he forced her to get an abortion; another said he made her make a video of herself with feces on her face.

Robert Sylvester Kelly is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. As a recording artist, Kelly was credited with helping to redefine R&B and hip hop, earning nicknames such as “the King of R&B”, “the King of Pop-Soul”, and the “Pied Piper of R&B”.
